INTRODUCTION

This document explains how to update the firmware on a PaulaNET device.

Firmware updates may include:

- Bug fixes
- Performance improvements
- New hardware support
- New features

Updating the firmware does NOT modify your Amiga configuration.

REQUIREMENTS

Before starting you will need:

- PaulaNET board
- USB-C cable
- Windows, Linux or macOS computer
- Latest PaulaNET firmware (.uf2)

STEP 1 - DISCONNECT THE AMIGA

Turn OFF the Amiga before removing PaulaNET.

Disconnect PaulaNET from the Amiga.

STEP 2 - ENTER BOOT MODE

Locate the BOOT button on PaulaNET.

1. Press and HOLD the BOOT button.
2. Connect the USB cable.
3. Release the BOOT button.

A new removable USB drive should appear.

Typical drive name:

RPI-RP2

or

RP2350

(depending on firmware version)

STEP 3 - COPY THE NEW FIRMWARE

Copy the firmware file:

PaulaNET_x.x.x.uf2

to the USB drive.

Do NOT copy the ZIP archive.

Copy ONLY the UF2 file.

STEP 4 - WAIT

After copying the UF2 file:

- the USB drive disappears automatically
- PaulaNET reboots
- firmware update is complete

Do NOT disconnect power while copying.

STEP 5 - RECONNECT TO THE AMIGA

Disconnect the USB cable.

Reconnect PaulaNET to the Amiga.

Power ON the Amiga.

VERIFYING THE UPDATE

Open the PaulaNET configuration utility.

Verify that the reported firmware version matches the version you installed.

IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

If PaulaNET does not boot:

1. Disconnect USB.
2. Hold the BOOT button.
3. Reconnect USB.
4. Copy the UF2 file again.

The bootloader is stored separately and normally cannot be damaged by a
firmware update.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Always use firmware intended for your PaulaNET hardware revision.

Never disconnect power while copying the UF2 file.

Do not rename the UF2 firmware file.
